Sermon Notes : Let Me Show You the Door
- Acts 14:26-28
- Matthew 4:8-11
- We need to develop a comeback strategy for when the devil comes at us.
- The devil led Jesus, then he lied, and then he left.
- If the devil is talking to you, that means God is taking you somewhere.
- If he’s not then you are not being pushed out of your comfort zone.
- Progress.
- God is taking me somewhere.
- The struggle you have now is proof of the fact that you’re heading somewhere you’ve not headed before.
- You get so distracted by the conflict that you don’t see the progress, or the potential.
- For every door that God opens, there will be opposition.
- The greatest way for you to deal with this opposition is to realize that God opens doors that nobody can shut.
- The only thing that can close it is if you get distracted by the conflict and give up on the progress.
- God is not the only one who opens doors, the devil does too : doors of discouragement, disappointment and dysfunctional behavior that were planted in your heart sometime in early development in your life.
- God will never let you go where you are not graced to be.
- In this season of your life, you may be trying to grind without grace, and that would be a problem, because you may be leaving a door open to the devil.
- I got grace for it.
- Comeback
- Connection
- What God does through you is a lot of times determined by the they that you are connected to.
- You need a Barnabus.
- The reason the devil doesn’t leave your life sometimes is because you try to run him off alone.
- There comes a point where you can’t fight this in your own mind.
- If you could have gotten you out of this, you’d be out of here by now.
- We feed our insecurity sometimes by staying in isolation.
- You cannot fill a Paul sized mission without a Barnabus sized encouragement.
- Sometimes you need to be your own Barnabus.
- Right when you are at the threshold of God doing something amazing in your life there will be a devil and he’s trying to get you to turn around.
- After the resistance came a revelation.
- The resistance that you’re facing in your life right now might be the door to the revelation of how great God is.
- How will God show you who he is if he doesn’t let you find out who you’re not without him.
- What the devil is telling you is telling you something about where God is taking you.
- Acts 13:44-46
- Because they rejected Paul, Paul reached you.
- Rejection can become redirection.
- Other people can’t tell you who you are when you know who you are.
- When you know who you are you don’t get too high, or too low because you’re hope is built on what Jesus says about you.
- Acts 14:19-20
- Get up and go back.
- If God opened the door, he will fill the room when you get in it.
- Credit
- Stop giving the devil God’s credit.
- Some of the things that you call coincidence are some of the things that God did that you haven’t given him credit for yet.
- How do you get the devil to leave your life? Begin to list all the things that God did that you’ve been forgetting about.
- Lift your hands, and list.
- When the devil shows you your deficiency, show him the door.
- The real challenge is to get back to your grace.
- John 10:9-10
- Show the devil your Jesus.
