Hi friends! Below you’ll find my thoughts on the books that I read in November. I spent way too much time playing The Sims Freeplay and did not get nearly enough pages read this month. But I digress. Here’s what I did read.
Is She Really Going Out With Him by Sophie Cousens tells of Anna and her dating journey after her divorce. This one was such a heartwarming read, and her kids help pick her dates which only adds to the depth of the story. This was a NetGalley read for me, and I received this and any other NetGalley books mentioned for free in exchange for an honest review.
A Storm of Swords by George RR Martin might be my favorite of the series. You get the red wedding, Joffrey’s demise, Sansa and Tyrion’s time together and so much more. Absolutely loved.
Dirty Diana by Jen Besser and Shana Feste. I must admit was a cautionary tale for me because I requested this title solely based on the fact that it’s based on a podcast and I was thinking it was more in line with dirty John. How wrong I was. I’m not a big fan of reading spicy scenes so this isn’t a book I normally would have picked. It was definitely interesting and leaves you on a cliffhanger. Diana’s life is in a weird state as she enters middle age and menopause and when she catches her husband in a compromising place…she questions everything and reminisces about past lovers. This was a NetGalley read.
Thinner by Stephen King is all about gypsy’s and curses and how far one man will go in order to have the curse lifted. He gets some mob men involved and travels all up and down the east coast on the trail of the band of the family of the man who cursed him for hitting and killing his wife with a car. Added salt in the wound is when it’s labeled an accident in the courts and no one is charged with a crime. This one is creepy. Billy loses so much weight he could float away and in order to break the curse he’s got to feed someone else a pie that he feels is almost a living thing.
A Holiday Homicide by Ellie Alexander is the next installment in the A Secret Bookcase Mystery series. Annie is back with her friends hosting a gingerbread competition with an influencer as the judge. Chaos ensues and everyone is a suspect when Lily ends up dead. As Annie decides her path for the future, her friends all come together to help find the killer before they strike again. This was a NetGalley read.
First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston was such a good book. I was hooked from her first alias until her last. This book tells of Evie as she works for the mysterious Mr. Smith. She’s always required to finish the job without being caught and get whatever her boss requires in the process. Her job with Ryan is different because in order to infiltrate his life she started to date him. This book revolves around my favorite type of character : the morally gray sort. This book is a definite page turner. I highly recommend it.
And there you have it. I fell short of my goal for November, but still made progress so that is really all that matters to me in the long run, even if I beat myself up about it in the short term. 😅
Let me know in the comments what you’re current read is, I’d love to hear it. I’ll leave mine in the comments as well.
