Hi friends! Below you’ll find my notes for Pastor Daniel Floyd’s sermon How to Handle a Setback. This sermon is from Elevation Church on October 13, 2024.

You can click here to watch this full message on YouTube.

Please remember that these are only my notes that I took while listening, not my own thoughts.

I’ve linked the bible verses if you’d like to read them.

Also, be sure to leave me a comment below with your favorite takeaway from this sermon. Mine is when he said “when we frame it wrong, we see it wrong.”

Sermon Notes : How to Handle a Setback

  • Acts 12:5
  • Life is full of setbacks.
  • When you face a setback, prayer is a great place to start.
  • You can to choose what is on the other side of the conjunction.
  • You get to determine if you want it to be an and, or if you want it to be a but.
  • The setback will either cause you to lean in or shrink away.
  • Some of us just accept the lot in life.
  • If you are only expecting what your imagination can create you are limiting God based on your intellect.
  • Reignite the fire.
  • Prayer gets you in agreement with God.
  • There is power in agreement.
  • The devil gets you in agreements with lies.
  • That happens when you stop fighting for the change.
  • Don’t go with what you see, go with what God said.
  • Remembrance is not equal to recall.
  • We may walk in chaos but chaos is not in us.
  • Be careful who you agree with.
  • God has a way of working all things together for the good of those who love him.
  • It was the pain that elevated their prayer to a new level.
  • When we frame it wrong we see it wrong.
  • Maybe there’s a muscle of faith that God is trying to build.
  • He sees the potential that we can’t see.
  • Character grows really good in pain.
  • It’s developing something that prepared us for the future blessing from God.
  • Acts 12:6-10
  • There’s time to lean in and pray, and there’s also time to rest.
  • Why I am worrying, losing sleep when God is in tomorrow?
  • Peter didn’t escape, he was delivered.
  • Don’t seek to escape your setbacks, seek for God to deliver you out of them.
  • The same God that got Peter out of prison is the same God that is working in your life today.
  • If you earnestly pray, God hears your prayers and will move on your behalf.
