Sermon Notes : It’s Going to Happen Here

  • Genesis 41:50-55
  • Rusted but ready.
  • Increased in Egypt (it’s going to happen here.)
  • Everyone suffers somewhere.
  • This can kill your jealousy about anybody you envy.
  • If you knew what they weere going through you wouldn’t trade with them.
  • Influence is expensive.
  • When you have a lot, keep a little for when it gets lean.
  • Isn’t it interesting that the same place they escaped to from the famine was the same place that ended up enslaving them.
  • A lot of the things that feed us, help us, serve to shelter us in one season of our life will shackle us in another.
  • God is sovereign in his scheduling of your life.
  • Maybe the reason God kept you in that situation for that length of time was because if you had been released from that prison one day sooner you would have missed the opportunity to demonstrate the gift that God gave you.
  • Sometimes God sends a blessing before a trial to remind you who he really is so that you don’t allow the trial to let you give up.
  • It’s going to happen here.
  • He gave him the gift of a family in the place of his hardship.
  • Deuteronomy 6:12
  • Even in Egypt there are some things that God can do even though you didn’t choose to go there.
  • How can God make you fruitful in something you want to be freed from?
  • You can be fruitful in it while you’re waiting to be freed from it and it’s going to happen the moment you decide to name it manasseh.
  • It’s not a lie, it’s a lens.
  • There’s anger with no way to turn outwards and so it turns inward and makes you doubt yourself.
  • Refocus what you’re looking at.
  • The things you never chose don’t mean you can’t grow through them.
  • It’s a matter of focus.
  • The goodness of God is a perspective.
  • It’s not freedom from problems, or pain.
  • It starts with him and works it’s way outwards.
  • Sometimes God will call you to feed something that you wanted to forget.
  • Or call you to go back to a place that you suffered so much pain, and the wounds you suffered will be a womb of healing for someone else.
  • God increases in the places you’re enslaved.
  • The earth makes whatever is in the thing grow.
  • It can only pull out what is inside of the seed.
  • We care more about the external appearance more than the internal reality.
  • Everyone suffers somewhere, but
  • Not everyone gets something out of it. Not all suffering is productive.
  • There’s a difference between the suffering that brings things forth and the suffering that only increases shame and fear.
  • Sometimes God puts you in a situation because he put something in you that that situation needs.
  • What do a sneaker and a seed have in common?
  • Both get dirty sometimes, but only one was made to.
  • What ruined the value of the sneakers revealed the potential of the seed.
  • You are a seed!
  • What you went through didn’t ruin you.
  • The value of you is that christ is in you.
  • The seed is still good.
  • The value is in you.
  • The dirt didn’t hurt the seed, it turned the seed to a harvest.
  • It didn’t ruin you, it revealed you so that seed becomes a harvest.
  • It’s important not to get stuck in what you sufr because you’ve already suffered enough.
  • Don’t you want to have something to show for it?
  • Learn from it, and repent and help others not fall into the same thing.
  • The pit is potential.
  • Your life is not random.
  • Not rotting, it’s ripe.
  • Stop telling god when he needs to do stuff and be a seed.
  • Breaking – > Bud – > Blossom
  • Soil isn’t sexy but that’s where it happens. That’s where the hard shell breaks off so that what’s inside can grab on.
  • This message can be applied to any situation in your life.
  • You don’t have to like it to stay in it.
  • If you don’t ever sit with your anxiety and process it with God you will never see what was in you that was designed to be broken away.
  • God put fruit in you.
  • Dig til you get it.
  • Everything you’ve been through was designed to show you what God put in you.
  • Man looks at the outward and God looks at the heart.
  • Romans 8:18
  • Your surrender turns soil into a place of new beginnings
  • Your surrender turns your suffering into soil.
