Sermon Notes : It’s The Motion That Matters

2 Corinthians 5:7 (ESV)
• Step out in faith.
• Step out in doubt.
• Wherever there was the demonstration of great faith it was on the other side of strong doubt.
• Doubt doesn’t negate faith.
• Step out when the conviction of faith makes it necessary.
• Behold
• Believe
• Behave
• We can no longer see it to believe it.
• I don’t want to see it unless you can source it.
• We want God to set us free of everything but our gossip.
• We want God to give us peace but we don’t want him to meddle with any of the processes that are making us anxious.
• For you to just see a thing and believe it is immature.
• Some of the things that are a problem in my behavior are a problem in my belief.
• Some of us hate the way we have but we will not change the way we behold.
• Faith is not a feeling, it’s a behavior.
• You can be at an emotional low and a faith high.
Exodus 14:10-16
• Don’t judge where I am if you don’t know where I started from.
• Not now is not no.
• We cannot make decisions with our senses, they will get us killed.
• Fear isn’t a sin, it’s the decision after we feel fear.
• Is the devil controlling your whole future with an old movie.
• He doesn’t even have to resist you anymore, all he has to do is rewind.
• Your attention is too expensive to keep giving it to things that do not have your best interest at heart.
• It’s costing you your freedom.
• The enemy hides the expense and illuminates the benefits.
• Fear makes your forget how bad it really was where you were to send you back.
• You are not going to fix this with emotions.
• Emotions can be helpful guides to get us to a certain place but sometimes sitting with the emotion endlessly creates more of what you’re asking God to bring you out of.
• The only way is to go through it.
• The fact that his hand was shaking didn’t stop the sea from splitting.
• You can do it with a broken heart.
• Praise is a push back.
• It’s the motion that matters.
• You don’t need an external upgrade, but an internal commitment to God that you’ll step out.
• We stay stuck in resentment and let bitterness keep us rooted.
• If you always surrender to it you never gain strength or freedom.
• Not fast, just forward.
• Wheels don’t work in water.
• When you get out here in faith there’s not a thing the devil can do to bring you down.
Matthew 14:22-31
• It doesn’t matter how many they are it matters how many he is.
• The step makes it faith not the feeling.
• Transition with no timestamp.
• We all deal with suitcases and storms, we don’t know how long we have to be in this transitional space.
• The thing you’re afraid of is the thing you’re praying for.
• Why don’t you walk?
• Sometimes you need to simplify what you do next in your life.
• I’ll show you who I am while you walk toward me.
• Jesus does not rebuke you for your feelings.
• Stop punishing yourself for having the wrong emotions.
• Keep showing up to see what God does.
• It’s when your eyes shift to the thing and not the one who is greater than all things.
• He doubted but he didn’t drown.
• It’s not how fast you can get to Jesus it’s how fast he can get to you.
• It’s the motion that matters.
• It doesn’t hinge on your right stepping it’s on his right reaching.
