Sermon Notes : The Gift of Grief
- What happens when you trust in God and you don’t get the answer you want right then?
- God is not disappointed in us if we’re sad.
- When we are sad sometimes the veil gets a little thinner.
- Usually revivals follow pits.
- Genesis 1:26&27
- To be sad isn’t bad, where you go with that feeling is where we get illegitimate.
- Hard to be honest about who we are because we are afraid of being judged by other believers.
- Self reliance is not a spiritual gift.
- 1 Kings 18:17-19
- 1 Kings 19:1-5
- Don’t ache alone.
- Isolation is one of the biggest lies of the enemy.
- Sometimes we need a snack and a nap.
- We are hesitant to bring us our hurts, and he envelops us and says I know.
- The fakeness we put on makes others not want to turn to Jesus.
- We are trying to be the hero, and we aren’t.
- Psalm 22:1-2;14-18
- David is just like us.
- If we don’t acknowledge the gap then we are lying.
- The gap gets bigger when we fake it.
- God is near to us, not disappointed in us.
- The presence of God in difficult seasons isn’t just a gift, but a cornerstone of our faith.
